Over the past two decades, a handful of technology companies have transformed how we communicate, consume information and participate in public life. Yet while their influence has grown, efforts to hold them accountable have struggled to keep pace.
Baroness Beeban Kidron has spent more than a decade at the centre of that fight. As a filmmaker, campaigner and legislator, she has challenged some of the world's most powerful companies over issues ranging from children's rights and online safety to privacy, democracy and the concentration of corporate power.
